"When all of this is gone, when the lights, the cameras, all of that, is gone, I have to live here… The history that I have between these people and myself will not be eradicated." - Tef Poe, film subject, Whose Streets?
"We are raising activists, we have to create a generation of activists if there's gonna be any change." – Aurellia Davis-Whitt, film subject, Whose Streets?
Told by the activists and leaders who live and breathe this movement for justice, Whose Streets? is an unflinching look at the Ferguson uprising in the US. When unarmed teenager Michael Brown is killed by police on 9th August, 2014 and left lying in the street for hours, it marks a breaking point for the residents of St. Louis, Missouri. Grief, long-standing racial tensions, and renewed anger bring residents together, and as the national guard descends on Ferguson with military grade weaponry, young community members become the torchbearers of a new resistance. Whose Streets? is a powerful battle cry from a generation fighting, not for their civil rights, but for the right to live. Grand Jury Prize Nominee, Sundance Film Festival, 2017
