Synopsis

Bosnia, July 1995. Aida is a translator for the United Nations in the small town of Srebrenica. When the Serbian army takes over the town, her family is among the thousands of citizens looking for shelter in the UN camp. As an insider to the negotiations, Aida has access to crucial information that she needs to interpret for the growing number of families fleeing the violence, but answers are lacking. What is on the horizon for her family and her neighbors, what is her role as both communicator and refugee, and who will come to their rescue in this crucial moment? Quo Vadis, Aida is an important reminder that we must never forget the largest massacre in Europe since WWII, and that when alarm bells were ringing, the world stood quietly by. This Academy Award-nominated drama is a stunning and beautifully crafted film that speaks to our most essential, human instincts of survival, while bringing to light the importance of global attention to ensure such atrocities never happen again.
